Milli Eğitimde Çocuklarla Felsefe

 

 

Şeffaflık, dürüstlük, açıklık, hesap verebilirlik gibi toplumsal hayatın niteliğini doğrudan etkileyen kavramlara yönelik çalışmalar yapan, yolsuzlukla mücadeleyi hedef alan Uluslararası Şeffaflık Örgütü’nün (Transparency International - TI) Türkiye kolu olan Şeffaflık Derneği (Transparency International - Turkey) tarafından değerler eğitimi kapsamında geliştirilen, Hollanda Konsolosluğu'nun MATRA programınca desteklenen, paydaşları arasında İstanbul ile Kocaeli İl Milli Eğitim Müdürlükleri, çeşitli üniversiteler olan ve "Düşünme temelli etik eğitimi" ya da "çocuklarla felsefe" diye adlandırılan "Etik Çocuk Projesi"nin pilot uygulamasına Darıca Servet Yalçın Ortaokulu'nda başlandı. Öğrenciyi "katılımcı", öğretmeni "kolaylaştırıcı" olarak gören proje, kapsamındaki cesaret, özgürlük, dürüstlük, saygı, hoşgörü, cömertlik gibi kavramları, eğitimin geleneksel biçimini ve içeriğini kırmayı amaçlayan atölye çalışmalarıyla ele alıyor. 2013-2014 eğitim - öğretim yılında başlanan projenin bir yıllık pilot uygulamasının ardından geri bildirimler ışığında revize edilerek bir kılavuz kitabın yayımlanması beklenmektedir. Çocuklarla Felsefe yapmayı amaçlayan Etik Çocuk projesi kapsamında yapılan çalışmalar, 11 Aralık 2013 Çarşamba günü saat 14.00’te basının ve proje paydaşlarının katılımıyla Darıca Servet Yalçın Ortaokulu’nda düzenlenecek törenle paylaşılacaktır.

 

Çocuklarla Felsefe “Etik Çocuk” Projesiyle Milli Eğitim’de!

Özellikle Anglo-Sakson ülkelerde örneklerine rastlanan “çocuklarla felsefe” anlayışını Türkiye’yle tanıştırmayı amaçlayan Etik Çocuk Projesi’nin pilot uygulamasına başlandı.

 

Hollanda Konsolosluğu MATRA Programınca desteklenen Etik Çocuk Projesi, düşünme temelli etik eğitimi ya da değerler eğitimini atölye çalışmaları formatında vermeyi amaçlıyor. Şeffaflık, dürüstlük, açıklık, hesap verebilirlik gibi toplumsal hayatın niteliğini doğrudan etkileyen kavramlara yönelik çalışmalar yapan, yolsuzlukla mücadeleyi hedef alan Uluslararası Şeffaflık Örgütü’nün (Transparency International - TI) Türkiye kolu olan Şeffaflık Derneği (Transparency International - Turkey) tarafından geliştirilen proje, İstanbul Valiliği Milli Eğitim Müdürlüğü’nce yayımlanan Değerler Eğitimi kılavuzu gözetilerek kurgulanmıştır. Proje, Hacettepe Üniversitesi, Sabancı Üniversitesi, Doğuş Üniversitesi, İstanbul İl Milli Eğitim Müdürlüğü, Darıca İlçe Milli Eğitim Müdürlüğü paydaşlığında yürütülmektedir.

 

Etik Çocuk Projesi, Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı’nca önemsenen, valiliklerin il milli eğitim müdürlüklerinden yaygınlaştırılmasını istediği değerler eğitimine bir öneri niteliğinde hazırlanmıştır. Ortaokul 1. ve 2. sınıf öğrencilerine yönelik genelinde felsefe, özelinde etik konusunda atölye çalışmaları ve çalışmalarda kullanılacak kılavuz kitabın hazırlanmasını içeren proje, 2013-2014 akademik yılında bölgenin dezavantajlı okullarından Darıca Servet Yalçın Ortaokulu'nda haftada bir ders saati şeklinde pilot olarak uygulanmaya başlanmış bulunmaktadır.

 

Projede yer verilen “değer” ya da “kavram”ların, felsefi bir gözle ve yöntemle ele alınmasıyla öğrencilerin soru sorma, sorgulama bilinci, eleştirel ve yaratıcı düşünme becerilerinin geliştirilmesi amaçlanıyor.

 

Türkiye’nin, eğitim alanında yapılan uluslararası araştırmalarda (Türkiye, PISA 2009 (Uluslararası Öğrenci Değerlendirme) sonuçlarında 34 ülke içinde 32. sıradadır. 2012 sonuçlarındaysa 65 ülke içinde 45. sıradadır.) liste sonlarında yer alması, projenin önemli gerekçelerinden biridir. Bunu aşmak için projede eleştirel düşünme, sorgulama ya da kısaca felsefi düşünme becerilerini geliştirici yöntem ve tekniklere yer verildi.

 

Proje kapsamında Ekim ayının son haftası Sabancı Üniversitesi'nin ev sahipliğinde dört aşamalı bir eğitim kampı düzenlendi. Eğitimler, milli eğitim bürokratları, pilot okul idarecileri ve öğretmenlerinin katılımıyla gerçekleştirildi. Felsefe, etik, değerler, iletişim, sınıf yönetimi, Sokratik yöntem, çeşitli informel tekniklere dayanan (drama ve oyunlar gibi) eğitimler, “eğitimcinin eğitimi” ilkesiyle yapıldı.

 

Projenin somut çıktılarından biri olan kılavuz kitap, pilot uygulamanın geri bildirimleri ışığında revize edilecek; İstanbul ve Kocaeli İl Milli Eğitim Müdürlükleri marifetiyle okullara ulaştırılması sağlanacaktır.

 

Projeden elde edilen çıktılar, Sabancı Üniversitesi'nin her yıl düzenlediği ve bu yıl 25 Mayıs 2014 Pazar günü gerçekleşecek olan Güneş Günü adını verilen şenlikte sergilenecektir. Şenliğe, Milli Eğitim camiası, Hollanda Konsolosluğu yetkilileri, pilot okul idareci, öğretmen, öğrenci ve ebeveynlerinin katılması beklenmektedir. Ayrıca projeyle ilgili bütün süreçler, iki dilde erişime açılan bloglar (EtikCocuk.blogspot.com – EthicsChildren.blogspot.com) ve facbook.com/EtikCocuk üzerinden payaşılarak alanda çalışma yapanların desteklenmesi amaçlanıyor.

Philosophy with Children is in National Education with “Ethics Children” Project!

 

Summary

The pilot application of the "Ethics Children Project" has been launched in Darıca Servet Yalçın Primary School in Darıca recently. This project is improved and implemented by Şeffaflık Derneği (Turkey Chapter of Transparency International, global organization fighting against corruption) with the support of the MATRA Program of the Netherlands Consulate. The project, aimed to realize ideas, such as, "philosophy with children" or "thinking based ethical education", is also supported by Istanbul and Kocaeli Directorates of Ministry of National Education and Sabancı and Doğuş Universities. Embracing the concepts like courage, freedom, honesty, respect, tolerance, generosity, the project sees the student as an "attendee" and teacher as a "facilitator". Thus the project includes the series of workshops and aimes the change of traditional methods and contents of education. In the aftermath of the pilot applications, guideline and cirriculum is expected to be published upon revising the the feedbacks of the project implemented in 2013 and 2014. The works in the scope of Ethics Children Project which aims doing philosophy with children, will be introduced in the 11th of December 2013, on Wednesday at 14.00 o’clock, with the attendance of press and partners in the ceremony that takes place in Darıca Servet Yalçın Secondary School.

 

Philosophy with Children is in National Education with “Ethics Children” Project!

The pilot scheme of Ethics Children Project which aims to introduce the understanding of “philosophy with children “ in Turkey, especially seen in Anglo – Saxon countries, has just started.

 

Ethics with Children Project, supported by Netherlands Consulate MATRA Program aims to give thinking based ethics education or values education throughout workshops. The project is developed by Turkey arm of International Transparency Organization which aims to fight against illegality and work throughout the notions that directly affect the life quality like transparency, honesty and clarity. The project was constructed in the light of the guidance book which was published by Istanbul Provincial Directorate for National Education.

 

The project is being implemented with the partnership of Hacettepe University, Sabancı University, Doğuş University and Istanbul Provincial Directorate for National Education, Darıca District National Education Directorate.

 

Ethics Children Project was prepared as a sample for values education which is emphasized by Ministry of National Education and wanted to be spread by Provincial National Education Directorate. The project includes the preparation of Guidance Book which will be used in workshops on philosophy and ethics for 1st and 2nd grade students in primary schools. The implementation of the project has started in the academic year of 2013-2014, in one of the disadvantaged schools of the district, called as Darıca Servet Yalçın Primary School.

 

By approaching the values and the notions in the project from a philosophical point of view; the project aims to develop questioning, conscience of investigation, ability of critical and creative thinking.

 

Turkey is almost at the end of the list, in the result of international research on education. (Turkey is 32nd among 34 countries in the list of PISA 2009 Evaluation of Students. Turkey is 45th. among 65 countries in the list of PISA 2012.) This reality is one of the most important reasons of the project. To overcome this problem, techniques of critical thinking and questioning, in other words the techniques which develop philosophical thinking ability are used in the project.

 

Parallel to the concept of the project, in the last week of October, a four step training camp was organized in Sabancı University. National education bureaucrats, pilot school managers and teachers attended this training camp. Philosophy, ethics, values, communication, management of the class, Socratic method, various informal techniques (like dramas and games) based trainings were implemented under the principle of “education of educator”.

 

One of the concrete outcomes of the project, the Guidance Book will be revised in the light of feedbacks of the pilot scheme. It will be reached to the schools with the help of Istanbul and Kocaeli Provincial Directorate for National Education.

 

The outcomes of the project will be exhibited in the annual Sun- Day Festival of Sabancı University which is going to be organized in the 25th of May 2014- on Sunday. The attendance of National Education group, the authorized officers of Netherlands Consulate, managers, teachers, students and parents of the pilot school are being expected to attend this festival.  In addition to these, all of the developments in this process will be shared via blogs (EtikCocuk.blogspot.com – EthicsChildren.blogspot.com) and facebook (facebook.com/EtikCocuk) by aiming to support groups who works on similar projects.
